Malibu Vineyards Single Vineyard 2004 Meritage was produced from the Estate, Creekside and Hillside blocks of Malibu Vineyards. This is a true vineyard blend with all the grapes co-fermented producing a unique blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot.
The wine grapes were harvested on September 20, 2004 with a 25.0 brix and a 3.65pH. After de-stemming, the whole berry blend was placed in a cooler at 45 degrees for five days of “cold soak” to concentrate the flavors before adding yeast to begin the whole berry co-fermentation process. The wine grapes remained on the skins for 15 days prior to pressing the wine into a new Seguin Moreau French oak barrel for ten months before bottling. A total of 27 cases were produced from this single barrel.
